Disaster Psychiatry Outreach [DPO] is a charitable organization founded in 1998 dedicated to providing psychiatric services to people affected by disasters. DPO’s mission is to provide mental health services at disaster sites in conjunction with government and private charitable organizations; to cultivate and implement educational programs; and to develop research and policy in the field of disaster psychiatry. DPO’s long-term goal is to become the primary provider of volunteer psychiatrists at disaster sites worldwide in addition to developing a program that permits the provision of acute and long term care in the wake of disasters.
