The mission of the Rotman Research Institute of Baycrest Centre is to promote effective care and improved quality of life of the elderly through research into behavioural changes which occur during aging.

The primary focus of the Institute is on memory and the executive functions of the brain, both in normal aging and in the presence of diseases and conditions which affect the brain, such as Alzheimer's disease and strokes.

The Rotman Research Institute achieves this mission by:

The Judge David L Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law is a nonprofit legal advocacy organization, founded in 1972 as the Mental Health Law Project. It is the leading legal advocate in the United States for people with mental illness and mental retardation.

Goals:

  • Reform of public systems to serve adults, children and older people with mental disabilities in their communities
  • Access to housing, health care and support services of consumers' choice
  • Services and support to help children with disabilities grow up in families, including access to federal disability benefits (SSI) and home- and community-based care for children with serious emotional disorders
