The Australian Association of Group Psychotherapists [AAGP] was founded in 1973 as the Australian & New Zealand Association of Group Psychotherapists, and assumed its present name in 1987. The Association aims to:
  • Encourage the training of psychoanalytic group psychotherapists, and to establish and maintain high standards in clinical practice
  • Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas among qualified mental health professional persons competent in psychoanalytic group psychotherapy
  • Encourage and promote research in psychoanalytic group psychotherapy
  • Maintain liaison with other national and international organizations whose purposes are similar
